Where does the green coffee come from?
Carvaci' supplies all of our green coffee beans. Green coffee comes from all over the world in many
varied types and grades. Of all the coffee beans grown today, only 10% are superior enough to earn
the “CLASS 1 SPECIALTY GRADE” rating which is what Monster Distributing acquires through
Carvaci’.
What makes specialty grade coffee?
Class 1 - Specialty Grade is defined as coffee with no primary defects, no more than 5 full defects,
sorted with a maximum of 5% above and 5% below specified screen size or range of screen size,
and exhibiting a distinct attribute in one or more of the following areas: taste, acidity, body, or
aroma. Also must be free of cup faults and taints. Zero quakers allowed. Moisture content between
9-13%.
What espresso and drip blends do you offer?
We have many different blends for both espresso and drip. For common reasons of consistency
and availability, all of Carvaci’s blends are wisely made up of 3-7 beans. This is critical since Green
Coffee Crops change every year. By having more beans in each blend the taste doesn’t vary year to
year like it would if you were using single origins or simple 2 bean blends. Also, the flavors from
professionally crafted blends are almost always better than that of any single origin’s. Blending is
truly an art and we’re very fortunate to have some of the world’s best blends! We also offer an
excellent Swiss Water Decaf. The process of decafeinating coffee with water instead of chemicals
like methylene chloride produces a wonderful, naturally processed product to serve your
customers. Those who drink decaf rave about it’s flavor & find comfort in the natural purity.
Will my green beans come blended and ready to roast?
Yes, our coffee is professionally blended by Carvaci’. The green coffee is completely ready to roast
by the time it gets to your door.
How and where do I store green beans?
Although green coffee can be stored for a year, yours will be delivered fresh, once a month, in easy
to handle, broken quantities of 25lb buckets and 50lb boxes which are meant for short term storage
in your store. We also deliver single origins in their original bags to those who are able to properly
deal with long term storage. (Temperature, Humidity, Pests & Other Factors are Critical When
Dealing with Green Coffee Storage)
How do I hold & dispense my ROASTED coffee?
Monster offers several sizes of gravity bins that work perfect for automatically rotating and
dispensing roasted coffee. We used to bag our espresso but that was fairly time intensive and
employees were always prone to errors in rotating the bags. The bins work great because your
coffee can be served at it’s perfect time, forever! People buy whichever size bin that will hold 48 to
72 hours worth of coffee (the perfect age for espresso) for their store and then they simply add the
freshly roasted coffee in the top and pour it from the bottom. Voila, your coffee will be served at it’s
best flavor, consistently, forever! This is so simple it’s amazing it took us 6 months to come up with
it, not having bagged coffee really makes a huge difference in flavor consistency!
What types of green coffee will I be able to buy?
It’s truly up to you! Aside from all of Carvaci’s blends, we buy and have access to the same green
coffee types that all the other big guys use. We stock everything from Jamaican Blue Mountain to
Pure Kona, and we can usually get whatever you’d like!!! Monster buys from Carvaci’ in volume,
and makes them available in smaller quantities for you! Just tell us what you want, and it will show
up at your door.
What about Coffee Quality/Consistency?
Your coffee will actually be more consistent than what the wholesale roasters could ever achieve.
They deal with huge batches in a very tight environment. Human error is unavoidable. Our small
batch roasters are so simple to use, failure and inconsistency are ridiculously remote. All
employees are fully trained in less than a few minutes, literally. Everyone produces the same,
perfect coffee every time.
* Another consistency issue is that each different coffee is at it’s best at different times. Some taste
great right out of the roaster and others (like espresso blends) are really best at 48 to 72 hours after
roasting. With delivered coffee, you’re varying from too soon to too late throughout each week‘s
delivery timetable. It simply doesn’t work. Now your coffee can be consistently used at it‘s
optimum flavor, forever! And you’ll never have to do weekly inventory or run out of coffee again!
Can I buy Carvaci’ Green Coffee from Monster if I don’t buy a Cafe’ Roaster?
Sure, we have lots of customers that already had roasters before hearing about us. The only criteria
is that you purchase a minimum of 100lbs/mth & are not too closely situated to one of our current
customers. (Usually a mile or two is o.k. dependent on population) We’ll be offering smaller
quantities for home roasters soon!
